When I am Wild

When I am Wild

skip through fields of dandelion flowers,

dive off a cascading waterfall into a fathomless rock pool,

dance hip-hop in my lounge to Nicki Minaj,

spin fine shawls out of my hair on an ancient spinning wheel,

swim through the ocean wearing nothing but a mermaid’s tail,

blow giant soap bubbles in the moonlight and laugh with delight,

dry jilted lover’s tears on my cheekbones,

swing from a trapeze by my ring-clad big toes,

pluck stars from the heavens and weave them into my hair,

drink champagne sitting on the lawn in my nightie in the rain,

wear denim on denim with clogs and an animal print Cossack hat,

sing ‘The Greatest Love of All’ at the top of my lungs in the mall at lunchtime,

eat a five-course banquet on a fishing boat in Wales in my togs in Winter,

walk with pride at the woman I have become when I skip, dive, dance, spin, swim, laugh, dry, swing, pluck, drink, wear, sing, eat and walk until I am spent and oh so incredibly wild and then repeat…
